Sometimes, we all get to a point in our lives when we need a little getaway. Just a few days to unplug and maybe even do something you have never done before. After Memorial Day weekend, that is what I did– well, sort of! My family and I took a little trip to the Outerbanks and it was practically National Lampoon’s Vacation all over again. Four adults and two dogs – one over 75lbs – squished in a van for twelve hours. Yes, that is the perfect recipe for a Chevy Chase remake. In fact, here is the plastic spoon eating, sock stealing, leash breaking, farting and pooping machine who played his part:
It was really great to relax for a few days. Well, that was until I decided to try out paddle boarding during high tide and had to be saved by a surfer dude. No, it was not fate and he was not my prince charming. He was just an unlucky beach-goer who had to save my sorry butt from drowning. Except, he didn’t literally save my butt as we are going on two weeks now and I still can’t sit down from being slammed to the bottom of the ocean. Did I mention that this trip was straight out of National Lampoon’s Vacation? I mean what would a vacation be without a few laughs anyways?
All kidding aside, it was a great time. Somehow we all survived, had plenty of laughs (and drinks), warm weather, sunshine and a beautiful beach! Like Frankie Ballard says, all you need is a little sunshine and whiskey….and my baby girl too!
